It’s October, the Black History Month, and this year NEXT invited me to perform at their headquarters in Leicester for the occasion. I was impressed by the size of the complex over there, and positively delighted by the menu of their restaurant. I had a great time playing the best of my repertoire for the wonderful staff of the company, who gave my performance a warm reception I’m very thankful for.
That, by itself, could be a whole day’s worth of work for a gigging musician, but I was just getting started. Once everything was said and done with NEXT, I was driven back to Birmingham to get ready for the Time For My Music evening showcase, which also took place today! I used the time in the car to sort through my messages and answer to enquiries about the show. It’s really important to use time efficiently, otherwise you can get crushed under the weight of an endless to-do list.
I’ll talk about how the evening showcase went in another post. First, I’ll have to finish details for my upcoming gigs on Sunday and Tuesday! Such is life in this business: the calendar is never empty and the work doesn’t stop. It might sound daunting, but with experience and discipline, it’s actually an enjoyable challenge that keeps you at the top of your game.
