“Femininity is cherished and exploited in the music industry. Producers make their fortunes by selling a version of feminine sexual perfection and we see this through comments such as ‘You sound ok but you just don’t have the right look’ which is mentioned in TV music competitions. The winner goes through a complete make-over with additional air brushing to personify ultimate beauty and achievement. But then, years later, what happens when the menopause hits?”
Today at noon, as it happens every other Tuesday, the radio station AffinityXtra gave a space to my podcast ‘Success Beyond The Score’. We are several episodes in and the reception has been amazing, so I want to thank you all for your support! Also, let me remind you that AffinityXtra also plays the podcast on Sundays at noon, so, if you missed this week’s episodes, you can catch up then.
In an ideal world, we all would have managers taking care of introductions, contacts, networking, transactions, finances, protocols and so on, but in reality we need to know about all this stuff in order to build a career. Using my background and my experience, I have been spreading useful information to solve this issue for years, and now I have condensed all of it in a single website: http://www.successbeyondthescore.com
‘Time For My Music’ is the name of the community group for female musicians that I created alongside my Cafemnee team, wishing to provide a safe and welcoming environment to have conversations, share resources, improve ourselves and create music together.
I am happy to announce that the website for ‘Time For My Music’ is complete and online, meaning that you can get a membership and start learning and working in your music today!
The first season of my podcast Success Beyond The Score had an amazing reception on the first two platforms I chose for it: SoundCloud and iTunes. That is what encouraged me to search for more podcast plaforms, where I could reach people who could potentially benefit from the info and themes discussed in SBTS. Help me choose some!
This week I was recording my performance of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Waters’ for Sunday’s Gig. I was ploughing through the footage and came across some incidents where we had to touch things up before moving on. At the time I didn’t pay much attention to them as I was so focused on getting things right but watching back I found them funny and and I thought I’d share them with you. Hopefully they’ll bring a smile to your face too.
Today celebrates 30 episodes of my podcast ‘Success Beyond The Score’ for musicians, singer-songwriters, rappers and spoken word artiste who are finding their way through the music industry. Season 2 commences in the Autumn, so I’ve set some homework for followers to do to continue progressing their music while waiting for Episode 31.
