A petition to #FixStreaming

The coronavirus pandemic has hit everyone hard – including songwriters, composers and performers: Gigs and commissions have been cancelled, festivals and performances postponed, and recording studios closed.

Given the amount of money generated by the streaming of music, it doesn’t make sense that songwriters, composers and performers have to rely on Government support and struggle so badly to survive. For this reason, the Musicians’ Union and Ivors Academy joined forces to demand more transparency in the flow of money generated by streaming services.

The recorded music industry must play its part in supporting the individuals on whose talent and creativity it so heavily relies. Through a petition, musicians are making a call on Government to urgently undertake a review of streaming.

Let’s #FixStreaming and keep music alive.
