Some weeks ago, I shared a video of my first big stage sax performance back in 1990. The footage brought some good memories to Charmain, as she let me know in the following message:
OMG! That video brings so many memories.
My first memory of you was 1984/85 watch night service at church. I was sitting downstairs, in the fourth row middle section, and I remember you playing the sax. I was blown away. Since that day I always said I wanted to play the sax.
At school I played the tenor horn, trumpet, but it always felt like a substitute for the sax. You are a role model and I love that you inspire black woman to get into these spaces.
Continue to be blessed.
Charmain
Thank you, Charmain, for your kind words. I am honoured to have such a positive impact in your music and your love for the saxophone!
That’s an awesome accolade Sassysax.
