Black Lives in Music: Apply To ‘Recruiting Classical’

Great news for woodwind players from Black, Asian and ethnically traditionally underrepresented groups! Black Lives in Music (BLiM) will be holding professional development workshops in Winter 2023, collaborating with the following orchestras:

  • London Philarmonic Orchestra.
  • Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
  • Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
  • Royal Northern Sinfonia.
  • Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
  • City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

These workshops will include woodwind sectional rehearsals, orchestral excerpt masterclasses and mock auditions. The idea is that participants acquire the necessary skills to achieve success in future orchestral auditions. This will hopefully widen the representation of diverse musical talent on British orchestras in the near future.

What if you don’t play woodwinds? No problem! BLiM is also holding extra work auditions for string players during Autumn 2023.

The deadline to apply to either of these opportunities is 5pm on Monday 9th October 2023. Read all the information and requeriments on the BLiM website here. You’ll find the form to apply at the bottom of the page. Tell your friends who may be interested, and have my best wishes for your success!
