What do you do when you’ve had a 9-to-5 for over 30 years, but throughout you’ve been secretly nursing the ambition to be a paid gigging musician?
Such was the situation for seven brilliant women who, a while ago, decided to take the step and joined my online programme for emerging female musicians: Time For My Music. I’ve been mentoring them into becoming confident, bookable, and payable gigging musicians who understand tech, stage work and the business of music.
So far, the women of the programme have offered two online concerts, which were a success. Now, they decided to apply what they’ve been learning about how to put on their own LIVE show, and you’re invited to see the fruit of their labour!

But who are these wonderful women? Let me introduce them to you:
Michelle is a saxophonist who regularly enchants audiences with the Notebenders at Birmingham Symphony Hall and other prestigious venues. She aspires to become a sought-after studio session saxophonist.
Angela is an alto saxophonist known for creating a soulful atmosphere in genres like reggae, ballads, and gospel, and praised for her mesmerizing presence at prestigious venues including The Holiday Inn (Birmingham Airport)
Angie Lee is a singer-songwriter who stirs hearts with her soulful blend of Gospel and Inspirational music. Her vibrant voice has led her to renowned venues like the Crescent Theatre, Jamaica in the Square, the Hackney Empire London and the Legacy Centre in Birmingham.
A Sharp is a Birmingham-based alto, tenor and soprano saxophonist who loves jazz, reggae, gospel, rock, classical and soul. She currently plays with the Notebenders community band, founded by the late legendary sax player Andy Hamilton (MBE).
Melody is one of the featured vocalists with the Notebenders, a Big Jazz band started by the legendary saxophonist Andy Hamilton (MBE). She loves to sing jazz and gives soul-enriching performances. Her voice has been praised for being smooth and angelic on the high notes when singing classical songs.
Tiny Sax, alto saxophonist, is a lover of Blues, Soul, Jazz and Funk. She fell in love with the sound of the saxophone after hearing the soundtrack to the film ‘Alfie’ by saxophone legend Sonny Rollins. As well as solo appearances, she also performs regularly with soul band As One Collective.
Patricia is an alto saxophonist who has been part of the Time For My Music programme for a long while. She performed at both online concerts by the community, providing the sweet notes of her instrument for the opening and closing sections.
