The wonderful Nina Simone would be 92 years old today. Her music has been a constant in my life and career, and her work in defence of civil rights, an inspiration.

I happen to have two videos of me playing my take on her hit song ‘Feeling Good’ that are separated by a decade. The first was taken during my self-produced show Not Just Jazz II in 2015, and the second, as the opening song of my performance for the Barbados 58th Independence Dinner Ball towards the end of 2024.

Same song, same love for Nina Simone, and definitely the same good feeling, just many years of accumulated experience and creativity in between!
