When Toyin Adekale invited me to participate in the recording of “I’m That Woman”, I read the lyrics and felt seen. She speaks with honesty and courage about many struggles women face in their lives, while also paying a beautiful homage to our existence and experiences. It is a track I am proud to have contributed to, and I am happy to share it once again in occasion of International Women’s Day.
Things may look difficult and even bleak, but every year, there is progress towards equality, justice and the protection of women’s rights. Always that we recognize the value in ourselves and others, we can move forward together. Each one of us embodies womanhood in our own way, unique and valuable, that can enrich the experiences and perspectives of those around us. No matter how different we are from each other beyond the fact that we are women, we are all that woman.
