Stand Up to Racism is an organisation formed in 2015 to oppose the rise of racism and the exclusionary ideology of the far right. By bringing together anti-racists, trade unions, refugee groups, community groups and more, they mobilise and act against all forms of discrimination.
Together with the Trade Union Congress Midlands, Stand Up to Racism has summoned more than 60 organisations to Victoria Square this Sunday 4th October for the Birmingham’s Unity Rally. Starting at 1:00pm, there will be keynote speeches, music, entertainment, and a march through the city centre, to celebrate the diverse and multicultural West Midlands.
Join us, the antiracist majority, to show bigots that their hate, division and violence will not prevail. Bring your friends, family and colleagues. Children too! Everybody is welcome.
The Musicians Union will be present, marching with the trade union bloc. If you are a member, don’t hesitate joining the group. You can just arrive on the day, or tell the team in advance by writing to midlands@themu.org, so they can make sure there are enough flags and banners.
I will not be performing, but I will be there. See you!
