Musical Journeys

Recently I bought a copy of Laura Mvula’s debut Album ‘Sing to the Moon’, after seeing her performance on the Jools Holland show.  I really like the elements and composition of her songs.  Interestingly, early this month I played at a lunch which was for the Conductors and Teachers of the Music Service in Birmingham.  In the end of lunch speech by John Clemson,  Head of the Music Service,  he mentioned that Laura was once a member of their orchestras and how good it was to know that they had contributed to her journey not knowing that today Laura would be a national and international artist.  I thought of my students, where they are now and wondered what they will become.  I hope one day I will  be able to say that I have contributed to my students musical journey and have helped them to go on to greater and bigger things.
