Left around 1045pm last night from Jam Radio. How did it go…It was brilliant! What a night! DJ Dragon Irie, DJ AB and the audience made me feel right at home. In fact DJ AB was leaving for the day when I arrived but stayed to help set me up and then didn’t leave because he became engaged in the interview. Thanks for taking the pictures DJ AB!

But I tell you what was really quite interesting, being on webcam and live stream in a radio interview! It was like being on stage but I was in a radio station. It really energised the show for me. I mean, I’ve done quite a few radio shows now but this is my first with the technology. But you know what? I was very, very happy that I found this out beforehand and came with my ‘fro and make up did – lol!

Also the appreciative audience comments were on live stream while I was on air. Lots of congratulations and suggestions of whom I could collaborate with were displayed on a big screen. Some listeners placed animated dancers and hand claps in their messages during my playing. I was able to reply via the microphone to them and later leave my contact details in the stream too. (When I checked this morning, 14th April, the comments were still online but I’m not sure for how long. The comments are dated 13th April, between 9.14pm until 1033pm on http://www.jamradio.co.uk). It was really funny though to read Dudsis & Mrs Destiny’s comment ‘ ‘fros bounce back’ in reply to my comment about the headphones denting my afro. 🙂 It was all fun. Thank you all.
What did I say and play? Well the show kicked off with ‘It’s All Good’ and in between talking about how I started, events I do, Not Just Jazz II on 7th August, my role in GMIA (www.gmia.org.uk), offering saxophone and piano lessons to women (as we need more female musician) and explanations about the instrument. I played my track ‘I Will Go On’, also Bob Marley ‘Three Little Birds’, the hymn ‘Amazing Grace’, Bill Withers ‘Lovely Day’. Oh yes a request by Eileen for Chaka Khan’s ‘Ain’t Nobody’ and I gave a birthday greeting and played ‘Summertime’ for Junior a regular listener celebrating his 50 birthday. Time really flew and before I knew it 10 o’clock arrived and went. What a night!

Well it certainly bowled me over when the Managing Director, Sylvester Medar, rang in at the end to congratulate my involvement in the show – wow! The good news is I’ve been invited back so watch this space and join me for my next radio appearance on Jam Radio.www.jamradio.co.uk
