On August 9th this year, I performed at the Association of Jamaican Nationals service of praise and thanksgiving, for the 58th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence. Safety measures and lockdown were more strict at that moment, so the concert was held over Zoom and YouTube Live and my performance was pre-recorded.

Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Waters’ seemed to me the perfect song for the occasion, because it describes supporting a friend in difficulty and letting them know you are there, which matched the overall theme of the service: “We shall overcome”
