Did you know that saxophones come in a variety of sizes? Originally, their creator Adolphe Sax wanted to make an orchestra only with them, so in order to achieve a wide pitch range, he had to design at least fourteen different sized instruments! Nowadays, though, there are only five sizes that are commonly used: soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass.
You can tell if a saxophone has a high or low pitch by looking at its size: the bigger it is, the lower it sounds. Check this Instagram reel for a direct comparison.
