Originally, I wasn’t going to go on stage during the Time For My Music evening showcase. I was there to support the women in their first own live show, showing them the ropes behind the scenes, answering messages and calls, you know, all those things going on behind the scenes that must be done for the stars to shine. However, the bride of a wedding in which I performed some time ago, who was part of the audience, approached me during the break to ask me if I was going to perform. I had my sax with me, as I had played at NEXT’s headquarters that same day at lunchtime, but I wasn’t glammed up any more, nor was I sure that it’d be alright for me to go under the spotlight.
The logistic side of the evening was already taken care of, and everything was running smoothly. It didn’t hurt to ask! I told the women about this person’s enquiry, and they gave me their enthusiastic approval to plug my stuff and play for a bit towards the end of the night. The audience was very receptive, and they cheered as I shared with them some of my repertoire.
We got the concert professionally recorded and photographed. As part of the training offered by the Time For My Music programme, we’re currently sorting through the material. We’ll select the best of it and decide how to better share it with you all. I’m very satisfied with what we got, and I can’t wait for you to see it. In the meantime, here’s a fan-video of me playing “Ain’t nobody (loves me better)” at the concert.
During the upcoming month, I’ll be posting some other clips of that night, as well as of other gigs I’ve had recently. There are longer videos on the way too. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and turn notifications up, so you don’t miss them!
