What’s The Quote For My Day?

Some of your best traits and your finest works will grow out of the incredibly painful periods of your life.

— Charles R. Swindoll

I was just setting up to do some filing and I thought I’d find something motivational to listen to while working and I came across the above quote. It immediately stopped my surfing and I had to write to you and this is why.

Just this week my husband and I were evaluating the promotion of Take Me To The King and I was having a good gripe about a couple of the hurdles. I just couldn’t see the wood for the trees but then he pointed out how some people have been real troopers and their involvement were circumventing the problems. He also pointed to some of the past and often painful dead ends I experienced in doing my music but how they became the fuel for my development. His words really helped me and then this morning I read the Charles Swindoll quote and it further nailed it for me.

El Masnou Beach by Millicent Stephenson Saxophonist So today I’d like to encourage you with the quote for my day by saying whatever you are facing – be it an unopened door after much knocking, a set back after much planning, a misunderstanding after much talking or even a withheld promise – have your cry, have your rant, don’t take it out on others or do anything silly. Get up. Reassess. Use it as fuel for your journey. As Charles Swindoll says ‘some of your best traits and your finest works will grow out of the incredibly painful periods of your life’.

By the way, the picture is from my holiday in El Masnou. I just love the fact that a lovely green plant is growing in a hard place – rocks, sea salt, litter. Sums up what I’m trying to say.

  1. Wow. What a brilliant quote. What a fantastic post.

I believe that our greatest accomplishments are build on top of our biggest failures. We learn by failure. We learn by going through hard times.
