Today is the funeral of Carlene McKenzie, our dear member of Cafemnee and Time For My Music who passed away at the beginning of the year. To pay homage to her memory, the women of the group are going to perform ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ as a band, while I will do a solo rendition of ‘The Old Rugged Cross’. We are honoured to be able to celebrate her life one more time through our music. It is bound to be a very emotional moment for all of us.
Phil Jones, the husband of one of the T4MM members, attended one of our rehearsals and, while listening to the music, made this painting. I wanted to share it here as it is one more expression of our love for Carlene and the power art has to guide us through difficult times.
Thank you to every person who expressed their condolences about Carlene’s passing and constributed to our goodbyes to her.
Rest in peace, dear Carlene.
