Contribute To The Curriculum And Assessment Review

There’s currently an independent Curriculum and Assessment Review going on, and anyone can make their opinion count by responding to it on the Government’s website until this Friday, 22nd November.

The decisions taken will affect what students from ages 5 to 19 will learn across England. The Curriculum touches all areas of knowledge, and the review also goes over some logistic and administrative matters, so it can be a lot to think about. If you feel that you don’t have an informed opinion to contribute to the discussion regarding one specific section, don’t worry, it’s not required to answer to everything in order to submit.

The Musicians Union, which is responding on behalf of its members, considers that the most important parts are “Section 6: A broad and balanced curriculum,” which covers the primary and secondary curriculum and qualifications, and “Section 7: Assessment and accountability,” which is about how schools and institutions can be held accountable.

You can read more of the Musicians Union advice to highlight the importance of music education in this article. If you want guidance to respond to the entire review, you can have a look at the National Education Union (NEU) website.

Please share among your peers and colleagues. The more evidence the review can gather, the better!
